Chocolate Truffle Tart

Chocolate Truffle Tart

This Chocolate Truffle Tart is a rich, silky, and ultra-decadent dessert made with a crisp chocolate cookie crust and a smooth, melt-in-your-mouth ganache filling. It’s elegant enough for holidays and dinner parties, yet simple enough to make at home with just a handful of ingredients. Every bite delivers deep chocolate flavor with a luxuriously creamy texture.

  • Total Time: 2 hours 30 minutes
  • Yield: 12 slices 1x

Ingredients

For the Crust:

2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs (about 24 cookies)

5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

Pinch of salt

For the Chocolate Truffle Filling:

12 ounces high-quality semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped

1 cup heavy cream

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Pinch of sea salt

Optional Toppings:

Cocoa powder

Chocolate shavings

Fresh berries

Flaky sea salt

Whipped cream

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust

Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a bowl, combine chocolate cookie crumbs, melted butter, sugar, and salt. Mix until evenly coated.

Press firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom.

Bake for 8–10 minutes. Remove and let cool completely.

2. Make the Truffle Filling

Place chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl.

Heat heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to simmer (do not boil).

Pour hot cream over chocolate. Let sit for 2–3 minutes, then whisk until smooth and glossy.

Stir in butter, vanilla, and salt until fully incorporated.

3. Assemble

Pour the ganache into the cooled crust. Smooth the top with a spatula.

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until fully set.

4. Serve

Remove from tart pan, garnish as desired, slice with a warm knife, and serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

Cooking Tips

  • Use high-quality chocolate. Since this is a no-bake filling, the flavor depends heavily on the chocolate you choose.

  • Don’t overheat the cream. It should be steaming, not boiling.

  • For ultra-smooth texture, strain the ganache before pouring into the crust.

  • Use a hot knife (run under warm water and wipe dry) for clean slices.

Variations

Dark Chocolate Truffle Tart

Use 70% dark chocolate for a deeper, more intense flavor.

Milk Chocolate Version

Swap semi-sweet for milk chocolate and reduce cream slightly for a softer set.

Salted Caramel Layer

Spread a thin layer of salted caramel in the crust before adding ganache.

Espresso Chocolate Tart

Add 1 teaspoon espresso powder to the warm cream to enhance chocolate depth.

Nutty Twist

Stir in ¼ cup finely chopped toasted hazelnuts or almonds into the ganache.
