Chicken Parmesan Spaghetti

Chicken Parmesan Spaghetti

Chicken Parmesan Spaghetti combines crispy, golden breaded chicken with tender spaghetti tossed in rich marinara sauce and finished with melty mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. It’s a comforting Italian-American classic that brings together two family favorites in one hearty, crowd-pleasing dish.

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, sliced in half lengthwise

Salt and black pepper, to taste

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs, beaten

1 cup Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (divided)

3 tablespoons olive oil

12 oz spaghetti

3 cups marinara sauce

1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Cook the spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Prepare the chicken: Season chicken with salt and pepper. Dredge each piece in flour, dip in eggs, then coat with breadcrumbs mixed with half of the Parmesan cheese.

Cook the chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to a plate.

Slice and sauce: Slice chicken into strips. In the same skillet, add marinara sauce and bring to a gentle simmer.

Combine: Add cooked spaghetti to the sauce and toss to coat evenly.

Finish: Top pasta with sliced chicken, mozzarella, and remaining Parmesan. Cover and cook on low until cheese melts, about 3–5 minutes.

Serve garnished with fresh basil or parsley.

Notes

Cooking Tips

  • Pound the chicken slightly before breading for even cooking.

  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for better melting and flavor.

  • Don’t overcook the spaghetti—al dente holds up better when tossed with sauce.

  • For extra crisp chicken, place cooked cutlets under the broiler for 1–2 minutes before slicing.

Variations

  • Baked Version: Assemble everything in a baking dish and bake at 375°F for 15–20 minutes until bubbly.

  • Spicy Chicken Parmesan Spaghetti: Add red pepper flakes or spicy marinara.

  • Healthier Option: Use whole-wheat or chickpea spaghetti and air-fry the chicken.

  • Creamy Twist: Stir a splash of heavy cream or ricotta into the marinara for a richer sauce.

  • Low-Carb: Swap spaghetti for zucchini noodles or spaghetti squash.
