Teriyaki Pineapple Burger

Teriyaki Pineapple Burger

This Teriyaki Pineapple Burger is the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and smoky. Juicy beef patties are glazed with sticky teriyaki sauce, topped with caramelized grilled pineapple, melted cheese, and crisp veggies for a bold, tropical-inspired burger that feels straight off the grill at a summer cookout.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 recommended)

4 burger buns

4 pineapple rings (fresh or canned, drained)

1/2 cup teriyaki sauce (plus extra for brushing)

4 slices Swiss or provolone cheese

4 slices red onion

Lettuce leaves

Optional: mayo, sriracha mayo, or grilled bell peppers

Instructions

Form Patties: Divide ground beef into 4 equal patties. Season lightly with salt and pepper.

Grill Patties: Grill or pan-sear over medium-high heat for 4–5 minutes per side.

Add Teriyaki: During the last 2 minutes of cooking, brush patties generously with teriyaki sauce.

Grill Pineapple: Grill pineapple rings for 1–2 minutes per side until caramelized.

Melt Cheese: Place cheese slices on patties and cover briefly until melted.

Assemble: Toast buns lightly. Layer lettuce, patty, grilled pineapple, onion, and sauce of choice.

Notes

Cooking Tips

  • Fresh pineapple gives the best caramelization and flavor.

  • Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking from the teriyaki glaze.

  • Toasting the buns helps prevent sogginess from the sauce.

  • For extra flavor, mix 1–2 tablespoons of teriyaki sauce directly into the beef.

Variations

  • Hawaiian Style: Add ham or bacon under the pineapple.

  • Spicy Kick: Use spicy teriyaki or add sliced jalapeños.

  • Chicken Version: Swap beef for ground chicken or grilled chicken breasts.

  • Plant-Based: Use a veggie or plant-based patty with the same toppings.

  • Low-Carb: Skip the bun and serve over grilled cabbage or lettuce wraps.
