Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (80/20 recommended)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
8 slices Swiss cheese
4 burger buns (brioche or classic sesame)
2 tablespoons butter
8 oz mushrooms, sliced (button or cremini)
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
Prepare the Patties
Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and gently form into patties. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
Sauté the Mushrooms
Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add mushrooms and cook 6–8 minutes until browned and tender. Stir in Worcestershire sauce if using. Remove from heat.
Cook the Burgers
Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 3–4 minutes per side, or until desired doneness.
Add the Cheese
Place Swiss cheese slices on each patty during the last minute of cooking. Cover to help melt.
Toast the Buns
Lightly toast buns on the grill or in a skillet until golden.
Assemble
Place burgers on buns, top generously with sautéed mushrooms, and serve hot.
