- 1 loaf Texas toast (about 12 slices, store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Optional: 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare garlic butter
- In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Spread butter on bread
- Spread the garlic butter evenly on each slice of Texas toast.
- Add cheese
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and cheddar evenly over the buttered slices.
- Bake
- Place slices on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- For extra golden cheese, broil for 1–2 minutes at the end (watch carefully).
- Garnish & serve
- Sprinkle chopped parsley over the top if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
- Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or paprika for a little heat.
- Use a mix of cheeses like provolone, Monterey Jack, or Parmesan for more flavor.
- For an indulgent twist, sprinkle cooked bacon bits on top before baking.
