Air Fryer Cajun Fries are crispy, golden potato fries tossed in a bold and flavorful Cajun seasoning blend. Made with minimal oil and cooked to perfection in the air fryer, these fries deliver the perfect balance of smoky, spicy, and savory flavors. They’re an easy side dish or snack that pairs perfectly with burgers, sandwiches, fried chicken, or dipping sauces like ranch or garlic aioli.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

3 large russet potatoes

1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil

1 1/2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Potatoes
Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly. Cut them into thin fry-shaped strips (about ¼ inch thick).

Soak the Potatoes
Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and soak for 20–30 minutes. This removes excess starch and helps create crispier fries.

Dry the Potatoes
Drain and pat the potatoes completely dry with paper towels.

Season the Fries
In a large bowl, toss the fries with olive oil, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt until evenly coated.

Preheat the Air Fryer
Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3–5 minutes.

Cook the Fries
Place the fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer (cook in batches if necessary). Air fry for 12–15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.

Serve
Transfer to a serving plate, garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

Cooking Tips

1. Use Russet Potatoes
Russets have a high starch content which makes fries crispier on the outside and fluffy inside.

2. Don’t Skip the Soaking Step
Soaking removes starch and helps the fries crisp better in the air fryer.

3. Dry the Potatoes Thoroughly
Any extra moisture can cause the fries to steam instead of crisp.

4. Avoid Overcrowding
Cook fries in batches if needed to allow proper air circulation.

5. Shake the Basket
Shaking halfway through ensures even cooking and browning.

Variations

Extra Spicy Cajun Fries
Add ¼–½ teaspoon cayenne pepper for additional heat.

Garlic Cajun Fries
Toss cooked fries with minced garlic and melted butter for a bold garlic flavor.

Loaded Cajun Fries
Top with melted cheddar cheese, crispy bacon bits, and green onions.

Parmesan Cajun Fries
Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the fries immediately after cooking.

Sweet Potato Cajun Fries
Substitute sweet potatoes for a slightly sweeter, nutrient-rich version.
